I am just horrible at keeping up with a blog, as you all can see. I wanted to update everyone on a few things. First, we had our appointment back in December and found out we are having a baby boy!!! Brien & I were so excited to hear the ultrasound tech say that! I thought for sure the baby was going to be a girl, but I did really want to have a boy! We are so thankful that he is growing well! We were also told that he has long arms, legs, and fingers!! Maybe he will be a basketball player or guitar player! The doctor came into the room after the ultrasound tech took a lot of pictures, and let us know that our baby boy had an isolated choroid plexus cyst. I will admit, this was scary for me to hear even though she assured us that we had nothing to worry about. A choroid plexus cyst is located on the baby's brain, and with other anomalies found (usually in the hands, heart, and other organs), it can be a risk for trisomy 18. Thankfully, our baby boy did not have any anomalies found, hence the "isolated" choroid plexus cyst. The doctor said the cyst should dissipate by the third trimester. We have been praying and praying that when we go back on February 16th for our next ultrasound, that the cyst will be gone!
Brien & I have been very busy getting the nursery ready for baby Duke! We have the crib and changer/dresser up as well as his bedding. We just need to decorate the nursery now! We are getting more and more excited to meet him and I can't wait to hold him!!

Baby Duke
I have decided to start a blog, mainly because Brien and I are pregnant with little baby Duke! I want to blog about the pregnancy, but also about our family.
I will be 13 weeks on Sunday, and I can't believe it. To back up, Brien & I found out we were pregnant back in September. I was about 5 weeks at the time. We were surprised, since we were planning on trying in March; but we couldn't be more excited!! I had my first appointment on September 23rd, where we met our doctor and found out my expected due date as well as some general information. My due date is May 15, 2010. We also were able to see the baby's heartbeat--it was a tiny flashing light, but it was amazing to see!
I started getting morning sickness very early, even before my first appointment. I started getting sick every single morning. It is pretty tough getting up at 5am and the long commute to work is draining already, but throwing getting sick into the mix was taking my every ounce of energy.
A couple weeks ago, at my second appointment, which was on October 23rd, my doctor gave me a prescription for phenergan (sp?) to help with nausea. It has been wonderful! I am feeling so much better now. Brien & I also got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time at this appointment. I got teary-eyed hearing the heartbeat...I have never heard anything more precious.
We also have had our first ultrasound (October 29th), which was amazing!! We got to see baby Duke and hear the heartbeat again. We will have our next ultrasound on December 17th, when we will hopefully find out if we are having a boy or a girl!! My next regular appointment is on November 24th.
Everything is going very well, and we are so thankful to the Lord for this gift. Please pray for us and for baby Duke, that I would remain healthy and the baby will be healthy!
